Our Community Links

St Thomas' School was founded in 1904, and since that time has played a large part in the local parish and community which we are a part of and serve.  This continues today as we encourage the children to become productive members of their local community and to embrace and enhance that which is already on offer.  We work with our local Church and Parish, with other local schools and other organisations within the surrounding area.

Here are some of the organisations we have worked with or we have supported in our Community:

  • St Thomas' Church
  • St Thomas' Nursery
  • St Annes Library
  • I-Hope Fylde
  • Delaheys Care Home
  • Porritt House Care Home
  • The Hamptons Care Home
  • Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children's Hospice
  • The Coastal Collective - working in partnership with other local schools & The Lytham Schools Foundation
  • The Lytham Schools Foundation Charitable Trust

Our work in and with the local community

Supporting Trinity Hospice

Mrs Thompson ran the London Marathon, so we ALL joined in and ran the mini marathon at school - our parents and families came too!

visiting the local library

Reception children visit the local Library each half term. They enjoy browsing and listening to stories Lots of them have become members too - we are encouraging a life long love of reading. All other year groups visit at least once a year.

Reading at Porritt House

Reception children shared story books and chatted to the residents of Porritt House. They were very popular visitors!

Oceans Day

Tracey Hope, from I-Hope Fylde, came to share with us. We learnt about the effects of rubbish and pollution on the beach and in the oceans and seas.

Foodbank Fridays

Our school council organised a weekly collection of food. This was shared with I-Hope Fylde for the local foodbanks.

Carol Singing at christmas

Our school choir sing in the local community, at St Anne's Library, Porrit House and Delaheys Care homes. Their music was enjoyed by all who heard!

Scouting links

We have a Scout Group on our own field and their district leader came to publicise and share some of the activities on offer in the Scouts for girls and boys.
