Summer Term message from Miss Grove:
Welcome back – I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and are ready for a busy and exciting Summer Term in Year 2!
This term is always a busy and enjoyable one. We have lots of exciting learning planned across this term. In Maths, we will be learning about fractions, telling the time, and exploring position and direction.
In Science, the children will be learning about animal survival and what animals need to stay healthy and alive.
Our History learning will focus on Magnificent Monarchs, where we will explore important kings and queens from the past - this will also link to an exciting, fun workshop later in the term provided by Mr Warrell!
Reading continues to be a key focus, and we will keep developing fluency, comprehension and a love of books through daily reading activities and shared texts. Writing lessons will be based on engaging stories and topics to support creativity and confidence.
Throughout this term, the children will be gently preparing for their end of KS1 assessments. We will continue to support the children in feeling confident with their learning, feeling supported and feeling proud of their progress. These assessments are nothing for the children to worry about and are there to provide an end of key stage baseline. Any questions about this I am more than happy to help. There is also information further down that can be used to help support your child at home.
As the weather improves, we will enjoy making the most of the sunshine! I am really looking forward to another positive and productive term of learning together in Year 2.
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Grove
