Summer Term message from Miss Warburton:
I can't believe we have reached the last full term in Year 2! This Summer Term our focus is on 'Magnificent Monarchs'. We will be learning all about British Kings and Queens, including Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria and King Henry VIII, and we will even have a 'royal' visit from Mr Worrell to enhance our learning.
Throughout our Maths learning journey in Year 2, it is important that we become confident with the times tables. We are continuing to practise times tables by chanting "One 2 is 2, two 2s are 4, three 2s are 6" and so on... Times Table Rockstars and Numbots are accessible on any device and will really support fluency with times tables and number facts. I wonder if any Year 2s will up-level their status on TTRocks or win a certificate for Numbots this term! Our focuses in Maths for this term will be Fractions, Time, Position and Direction and Statistics. Have a go at telling the time using an analogue clock - what time is it now?
I have put a link to the Year 1 and Year 2 Common Exception Words below. These are words that most children are expected to be able to spell by the end of Year 2. It is important that we practise spelling these words, as they are commonly spelt incorrectly meaning that we may find them a little bit trickier to remember.
Our Summer Learning Letter and knowledge organisers are also linked below. These detail everything we are going to be learning this term. Please take a look so you know exactly what exciting things we will be exploring!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask - I am always happy to help! I can't wait for another fun-filled term together, Year 2!
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Warburton

Seed germination
Posted: Mar 31, 2025 by: year2 teacher (K.Warburton) on: Year 2 Blog
We have been observing cress seeds to investigate what they need to start growing. We know that a seed begins as a dormant seed and when it begins to grow it is called germination. Each pair has got two tubs with cress seeds in - one is being given water and the other is not! Hopefully, with the right conditions of water and warmth, our cress seeds will germinate and continue in their life cycle.
