Welcome to Our Summer Term in Year One!
Welcome back, Year 1!

We hope you all had a wonderful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for an exciting Summer Term ahead. We have so many fantastic topics to explore together, and we can’t wait to get started!

This term, we will be stepping back in time to learn all about the Victorians. We’ll discover what life was like for children in the past, explore homes, schools, and even some of the inventions from that era. It’s going to be a fascinating journey!

In Science, we will be learning about plants and animals. We’ll be observing how plants grow, identifying different types of animals, and finding out more about the world around us. Keep an eye out for some hands-on activities and outdoor learning too!

In Maths, we will be building our confidence with multiplication and division, as well as exploring fractions. We’ll be using practical resources and fun activities to help us understand these new concepts and become super mathematicians!

In RE, we will be learning about baptism. We’ll talk about why it is special, what happens during a baptism, and why it is important to Christians.

In June, the children will take part in the Phonics Screening Check. This is a short, fun activity where children read words to show how well they can use their phonics skills. We will continue to practise every day in class through games, reading, and activities, so the children feel happy and confident. There is no need to worry—just keep enjoying reading together at home!

As always, we are looking forward to celebrating all the wonderful achievements in our Achievers Assembly—keep working hard for those Star and Shine Awards!

It’s going to be a busy, fun-filled term with lots of learning, laughter, and success. Let’s make it a great one, Year 1!
